In Scripture, the Sun/Stars are smaller than earth

The Previous Section: In Scripture, the Moon is its Own Light

The heavenly bodies (Sun/Moon/Stars) are viewed relative to each observer like rear projections of light through an atmospheric glass-like dome.  They are not giant balls of gas in a vacuum of space, 100’s to 1000’s times larger than earth.

The Bible says the sun/moon/stars are cast DOWN TO EARTH in large numbers.

“All the host of heaven shall rot away, and the skies roll up like a scroll. All their host shall fall, as leaves fall from the vine, like leaves falling from the fig tree.”

Isaiah 34:4 ESV

““Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

Matthew 24:29 ESV

“and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.”

Revelation 6:13 ESV

“And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit.”

Revelation 9:1 ESV

“His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.”

Revelation 12:4 ESV

In addition, Jude states the planets are wandering stars, to whom is reserved darkness for ever.  With planetary ties to astrology/zodiac, this is an interesting scripture.

“wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.”

Jude 1:13 ESV
